Timing Belt

An internal combustion engine must have timing belts to synchronise the rotation of the crankshaft and camshaft. The engine's valves are opened and closed by the camshaft, while the crankshaft is in charge of moving the pistons up and down within the cylinders. The camshaft and crankshaft's gears are gripped by teeth on the inner surface of the timing belt, also known as a cambelt or a toothed belt, which ensures that they turn in perfect synchronisation. These are essential because if the crankshaft and camshaft are not coordinated, the engine's valves won't open and close at the appropriate times.
